KEVIN CHAMPION - MANAGING MEMBER
As a second-generation contractor, Kevin brings skill and considerable experience in his leadership role as the driving force behind CK's integrity and quality of service. He continues the companies 50-year heritage under the same guiding principles of trust, integrity, and the passionate desire to provide sincere customer service instilled by his mentor and father. Kevin grew up in the site development business. After attending North Carolina State University, he returned to his roots. He has served in several key roles, successfully managing and completing projects of all sizes and types along the eastern seaboard from Northern Virginia to Florida. Equipped with 35 years in the industry, he has continued to build upon a foundation that has customer service as its key strength. Whether large or small, Kevin has the expertise to develop strategies, implement action plans, and successfully complete the most difficult of sites.

WILLIAM GEORGE - MANAGING MEMBER
In 2006, William partnered with Kevin Champion, bringing with him 20 years of construction and real estate industry experience. Alongside Kevin, he is responsible for the management and strategic direction of the company. These responsibilities include the initiation of business development, the composition of key personnel in addition to general resource utilization. William also serves as a Managing Member of Excel Utility, LLC. Excel, headquartered in St. James, Missouri, is a leading provider of contracting services that install and maintains utilities in the telecommunications, gas distribution, and utility infrastructure industry. Prior to CK and Excel, William served as the Group Vice President for Orius Telecommunications where his duties included operational and financial responsibilities. Prior to his time with Orius, he spent three years as a Senior Associate within the Business Assurance sector for PricewaterhouseCoopers. William holds an M.B.A. from the University of California State East Bay, serves on the board of directors for two emerging private firms and is very involved in civic activities mainly focused around his two children.

CHRISTIAN CALDWELL- VICE PRESIDENT
Christian brings 25 years of knowledge in design, estimating, and project management to the team. His experience, serving in both general contracting and site development roles, gives him a well-rounded perspective on the associated risks with site development projects. He has an extensive project resume that includes both public and private projects in the southeast. Christian earned a B.S. from Florida State University and is active in trade associations. Prior to joining CK, Christian worked for Morgan Corporation as senior estimator and project manager, Pulte Homes as a land manager, and Landcraft Development as construction manager.

CHRIS CHAMPION - CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER
Chris grew up in the land construction business, learning from a young age how to perform quality work with integrity. From above-ground earthmoving to below-ground utility installation, he gained a well-rounded experience for doing it right. While earning a B.S. in Civil Engineering from North Carolina State University, he continued to work in land development, coupling the knowledge of engineering with skilled construction. After graduation, Chris served as a regional sales engineer for Contech Construction Products where he assisted in the design of various emerging technologies for stabilization of soft subgrades, retaining walls, and underground piping systems. Achieving a Professional Engineering license in the early 1990s, Chris is skilled and understands engineering designs and how to build them. He owned and operated a land development company in East Central Florida for 16 Years. Chris has over 30 years of experience connecting design and construction for residential, commercial, golf courses, wetland mitigation, levee building, and other various project types. As an engineer and builder, bridging the gap between design objectives and constructability, Chris is a powerful asset.

STEVE BLANKENSHIP - DIRECTOR OF DRY UTILITIES
Steve brings 35 years of experience in underground and aerial telecom, and utility construction. He began his career as a laborer on a clean up crew in St. Louis, MO. Graduating to plow operator, then directional boring foreman. He then became a directional bore specialist for Ditch Witch Sales leading him to project management. His experience in serving both field and management roles gives him a unique perspective to fulfill customer needs. Delivering telecom, power, DOT, and local municipality projects on time, on budget, and with correct close out packages is a central focus for Steve and his team. Prior to joining CK, Steve worked for ADB Companies as a VP for the Midwest Region of MO, AR, KS, OK, and TX serving multiple OSP telecom maintenance contracts including emergency call outs. Steve and his team have years of experience in building local and long-haul projects as well as FTTH/FTTP.

ROGER WOOD - DIRECTOR OF UTILITY OPERATIONS
Roger has 25 years of experience in the construction industry, primarily focused on underground utility installation and function. Beginning as a pipe layer and rising to supervisor, he understands and has been successful with all aspects of installation and performance of water systems, storm drain, sanitary sewer, force mains, and large pump stations. He has accomplished successful installations in multiple states with various soil types and constraints. From large diameter storm drain to very deep sewer, he has amassed the experience to analyze, strategize, and formulate a plan to success. Currently, Roger manages more than 10 utility crew operations, and his knowledge ranges from residential and municipal, to large commercial projects.

Joe Rhinehardt - Director of Grading
Joe began his construction career working with a general contractor performing vertical construction, site development and underground utilities. He started with CK in 2013 as an operator and diligently worked his way up to job foreman, then superintendent. Joe was promoted to Director of Grading for CK in June 2023. Joe has developed specific skills that allow him to communicate effective strategy and cohesive teamwork. Leadership skills, developed over many years, have propelled him to the main source of inspiration for Earthwork field operations. With 20 years of experience, he drives innovation for safety and production, and greatly contributes to the success that CK promises and delivers to its clients. Ground-up experience has been key to Joe’s knowledge and fortitude in orchestrating delivery of high-quality service coupled with integrity. He plays a significant role in building lasting relationships with employees and especially our repeat clients.

TAM WRIGHT - DIRECTOR OF EQUIPMENT
Tam has received accreditation from the National School of Heavy Equipment, and he has over 33 years of experience with mobilizing, operating, maintaining, repairing, and value assessing heavy construction equipment. This hands on experience has afforded Tam the knowledge to gage equipment capabilities, set performance metrics, and assess mechanical issues quickly so that an organized repair plan can be established. Quickly resolving mechanical issues in order to minimize downtime is his specialty. Tam operates several programs to manage the routine maintenance, rapid repair, and value analysis of our large equipment fleet. This ensures the operation of a well maintained and fully operational fleet of equipment so that we can perform at the highest level possible.

CHRIS HOFFMAN - DIRECTOR OF EQUIPMENT PROCUREMENT
Chris is a graduate of Appalachian State University and has over 35 years of experience in the construction industry. He brings significant experience working as a contractor along with many years devoted to safety training and equipment economics. Chris holds certifications in OSHA 500, OSHA 510, OSHA 10hr and 30hr Trainer, C-MESH, NC Work Zone Safety Trainer , MSHA, Excavation, Trenching, Competent Person, GHS, and First Aid/CPR. Chris promotes safety as the number one priority; his ultimate goal and objective is to provide leadership for our large staff so that everyone has a safe work environment. Chris ensures that safe operations provide the foundation for production, accomplishment, and achievement of success.

BOBBY BURNS - VICE PRESIDENT - FLORIDA OPERATIONS
Robert has been leading underground and site development crews for over 20 years. His projects are varied and diverse and include multi-million dollar endeavors. Robert is an expert in installation of underground utilities and brings his extensive experience to every job, large and small. Confined space certified.

LISA COXE - DIRECTOR OF HUMAN RESOURCES
Lisa brings 25 years of Human Resources management experience to the CK team. Lisa earned a master’s degree in Human Resource Development from Clemson University and a B.S. from the University of South Carolina in Biology. Lisa is proficient in recruiting, retention, benefits, compensation management, conflict resolution training and governmental compliance, with strong technical ability in the areas of employment law, policies and procedures, and cost containment. Lisa has her Professional Human Resources Certification (PHR) along with her SHRM Certified Professional Certification (SHRM-CP). In addition, Lisa completed 20 hours of Strategic Application of Lean Tools in Human Resources, earning a special “Green Belt in Human Resources” certification. She also served as the past Chairman of the Human Resource Division for the South Carolina Manufacturers Alliance. Prior to joining CK, Lisa worked in the manufacturing, staffing and construction industries.

BRAD HEAVNER - DIRECTOR OF EARTHWORK
Brad brings over 28 years of experience in Sitework Construction, Design, and overall Land Development to the CK Team. In his career he has designed, developed, and transitioned over 20,000 Lots as a Contractor, Developer, and Consultant while being involved in all phases of Residential Site Development. In addition, during his time as a Sitework Contractor he developed sites for over 10 million square feet of Retail, Commercial, and Industrial. Brad has performed work on over 20 miles of NCDOT projects including construction of I-485 along with Widening of I-85, and rehabbing 12 miles of I-40 with a Portable Asphalt Plant. He has a BS in Marketing from The University of South Carolina. Prior to joining CK, Brad owned Carolina Curb and Gutter, worked for Pulte Homes as Director of Land Development of Sun City Carolina Lakes, and was VP/Operations Manager for Scurry Construction.

CHARLES STUCK - SENIOR ESTIMATOR
Charles graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Growing up in housing construction, Charles learned the importance of quality workmanship, integrity, and dedication. Once on board, Charles began with plan take-off and dirt balance estimation, while helping to build the bid estimations of new projects. Building on the skills learned, Charles brought fresh ideas to the team by assisting in the innovation of GPS equipment technologies, GPS modeling, and aerial drone surveying. Charles has helped to streamline the process of planning, estimating, and implementing new projects by keeping pace with the ever changing technology of the site development industry.

CLIFF JOHNSON - SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER
Cliff is a construction professional with 22 years of solid experience; with a 19-year record of success overseeing all phases of multi-million-dollar construction, infrastructure, casino, building, and environmental projects for government and private-sector clients both within the USA and Canada. He brings to the team an international point of view, with a fresh aspect on new technology designed to promote excellence. Cliff grew up in the construction world and would often accompany his father, a highly skilled heavy equipment operator, to various site projects. Starting from the ground up as a laborer installing underground utilities in Southern California and Las Vegas, NV. His experience ranges from $100,000.00 site-work packages to $125,000,000.00 design-build freeway projects. Cliff is viewed as a highly valuable asset to CK and our clients.

ZACH BEASLEY - PROJECT MANAGER
Graduating from Appalachian State University in 2019, with a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Zach began working with the NCDOT as a part time CEI on roadway projects including soil nail walls, bridges, and asphalt paving. After moving to Charlotte, he worked in the geotechnical engineering field as a CMT, giving him a background in soils and material testing. Starting as an Assistant Project Manager with CK, Zach assisted PM’s with site data analytics to ensure productions and schedules would be met. With knowledge on current industry software’s Zach brings new ideas to the CK team.

Jason Friedl – Project Manager
Jason has over 30 years in the Commercial Construction industry. He began his career in the trenches as a laborer and worked his way up to senior management, in charge of all aspects of site development and building construction. Jason has supervised and managed projects turnkey ranging from large renovations to newly constructed complexes throughout the Southeast. He has amassed a wealth of knowledge in safety, time management, underground utilities, site development and vertical construction. His specialty is exceeding client expectations by building a strong team working toward a common goal. Jason attended the Association of General Contractors to achieve his Apprenticeship in CSF and STP. He has a passion for honesty and hard work, confirming his importance and significant contribution to the success of our company.
IN MEMORY OF TRAVIS DEMETRO
Utility Operations
Travis Demetro passed away in December of 2016 after a life-long battle with a heart ailment. Despite experiencing nine heart attacks since the early age of nineteen, Travis always was a hardworking and dedicated employee, well-respected, and a tremendous leader of men. Travis led the CK utility operations for many years.
In addition to his work family, Travis was happily married to his wife Lindsey and they had two children. He was a wonderful husband and devoted father and found much laughter and joy from his family.
Over 500 people attended Travis’s memorial service, a true testament to how many people he touched in his shortened life.
CK will always remember Travis for his contribution to the industry, inspiring his colleagues, and the lasting impression he stamped on CK. His dedication to quality and true leadership propelled CK into a premier company with a top reputation among a wide variety of clients, inspectors, and authorities associated with the construction industry. He helped to make CK Contracting the well-respected company that it is today.
